Job Description Job Description Position Summary The Field Engineering Technician is a specialist responsible for independently commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintaining large-scale 3D printers and associated systems. This role requires deep technical expertise, strong initiative, and an unwavering commitment to safety, accuracy, and operational discipline. In addition to executing complex technical tasks, the Technician III supports the growth of the team by mentoring Field Engineering Technician I and II colleagues, contributing to continuous improvement efforts, and serving as a reliable point of contact between cross-functional teams and external stakeholders. Key Responsibilities Technical Operations & Troubleshooting Independently diagnose and resolve complex operational, electrical, mechanical, and software issues on 3D printers and related systems. Connect and disconnect electrical, pneumatic, and network cabling to support printer mobility with minimal supervision. Perform preventive maintenance, planned upgrades, and detailed routine inspections to maintain peak printer performance. Monitor printer data (onsite and remotely) to proactively detect and mitigate potential issues. Execute component replacements and system-level adjustments safely and efficiently. Documentation & Communication Accurately document all troubleshooting steps, maintenance activities, and component replacements within the ticketing system. Provide clear and thorough communication during shift handoff to ensure continuity of operations. Assist with onsite spare parts inventory management and documentation. Leadership & Collaboration Lead coordination of complex tasks while ensuring adherence to safety protocols and efficiency standards across the worksite. Serve as a reliable point of contact with customers, both internal and external, to support smooth project execution and resolve recurring issues. Train and mentor Field Engineering Technician I and II team members, enhancing their technical capabilities and operational readiness. Process & Quality Contribute to the development, execution, and enforcement of standard operating procedures (SOPs). Demonstrate a process-driven mindset, consistently following workflows, SOPs, and leadership directives. Identify root causes of recurring issues and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
