Job Description:
The Registered Vascular Technologist is responsible for
performing a variety of specialized technical tasks in Diagnostic
Ultrasound. They will utilize high frequency sound waves to assist
medical and professional personnel in detecting anatomical
abnormalities while complying with Conway Regional Health System
policies and procedures. Through documentation and oral
communication, essential information is shared with
professional/technical health care personnel. Will be responsible
for verifying order, charging procedures, working knowledge of PACS
system, transport of patients with all necessary paperwork
completion.
SAFETY SENSITIVE POSITION:
This position is a designated as Safety Sensitive Position under
Act 593 of the State of Arkansas. An employee who is under the
influence of Marijuana constitutes a threat to patients/customers
which Conway Regional is responsible for in providing and
supporting the delivery health care related services.
Vascular certification from a recognized accrediting body
(Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI), American
Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or American
Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT).
Maintain the professional status Active registered member of such
accrediting body fulfilling CME requirements.
Successful completion of American Heart Association Basic Life
Support for Health Care Providers class prior to independence from
the preceptor.
Previous computer experience.
Knowledge of Joint Commission and Arkansas Department of Health
requirements preferred.
Aggression management training prior to completion of
orientation.
Other education and experience may be substituted (if applicable)
for the required minimum job qualifications with the approval of
the Corporate Director of Human Resources.
Perform ultrasound exams in the areas of small parts, abdominal,
and vascular as ordered by the physician.
Provide technical and nursing aide to the physician during the
performance on an exam; assist physician with invasive
procedure.
Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient work environment through
complying with all policies and procedures.
Maintain the exam room with necessary and adequate supplies;
effectively manage resources.
Maintain equipment upkeep with routine maintenance and reporting
malfunctions to the manager; perform daily inspections of proper
equipment operation.
Develop and maintain positive interpersonal relationships with
other departments.
Perform assessments on patient of various ages and conditions,
taking into consideration the physiological and physical needs of
each patient.
Record and maintain all records pertaining to the ultrasound
exam.
Meet or exceed customer needs in a caring, effective, and
cost-effective manner.
Maintain levels of quality that meet or exceed customer
expectations through process improvement and a team-oriented
approach.
Assists in keeping the department clean and disinfected.
Maintains knowledge of National patient safety goals and promotes
safe atmosphere for patient care within area of responsibility.
Communicate role in disaster plan, describes role in utilities
failures, disposes of bio-hazardous waste appropriately, follows
security policies and procedures, identifies hazardous substances
in work area, identifies safety concerns and reports to appropriate
person, locates fire extinguishers in area, locates material safety
data sheets for department, reports equipment failures to
appropriate area.
