Summary The restorative nursing aide acts as a caregiver for
residents during their scheduled shifts in long-term care. This
role involves implementing mobility, balance, and strengthening
exercises as part of therapeutic activities. Responsibilities
include: Utilizing adaptive equipment and fall prevention
strategies. Applying proper techniques for turning, positioning,
and repositioning residents. Conducting basic range of motion
exercises while adhering to good body mechanics. Assisting in the
training and execution of specialized programs aimed at enhancing
residents' quality of life and independence in daily activities.
Gathering resident reports before providing care and documenting
their progress and behaviors. Recognizing and promptly reporting
any changes in residents' conditions. Additional responsibilities
include: Supporting dressing, grooming, bathing, toileting,
exercise, and eating/swallowing programs. Demonstrating the correct
use of ice and paraffin baths, heat packets, etc., in compliance
with state regulations. Accurately utilizing the electronic medical
record (EMR) system. Properly handling linens and disposing of
soiled items according to guidelines. Observing standard
precautions, including the use of personal protective equipment,
and maintaining hand hygiene. Reporting signs of infection in
residents to the appropriate staff promptly. This position provides
resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance under
the supervision of a registered nurse (RN). The aide is expected to
deliver age-appropriate care that addresses both the physical and
psychological needs of residents as outlined in their care plans.
As a member of the nursing team, adherence to infection prevention
and control policies is essential. Qualifications High school
diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED) is preferred but not
mandatory. Minimum age requirement of 16 years. Previous clinical
or nursing assistant experience in long-term care is preferred.
Must possess a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification from
the State Board of Nursing. Completion of a CNA training program,
including at least 40 hours of specific training related to
restorative care procedures (may be provided by licensed therapists
within the organization). Must successfully complete annual
department-specific competency testing and maintain a record of
continuing education credits each year. Depending on facility
requirements, this role may be classified as a Sanford Category II
Driver, necessitating a motor vehicle report and proof of a valid
driver’s license. Must be medically qualified to perform essential
driving functions as per the organization's driving policy upon
