Electronic Controls Technician (E-Tech), Ammo focuses on equipment
troubleshooting and maintaining automation equipment for high
volume manufacturing such as loading modules, presses, wash
systems, annealing systems, material conveyors, cameras, sensors,
print and apply labeling systems, scales, HMI systems, and control
cabinets. FLSA: Non-exempt Job Duties and Responsibilities: Promote
a safe working environment by following all safety procedures.
Support and trouble-shoot PLCs, HMI’s, motors, servo and frequency
drives, robotics, sensors, and electrical distribution systems,
independently with minimal reliance on input from Control
Engineers. Recommend and implement controls and programming
alterations and enhancements to improve quality, safety, and
efficiency of legacy and new manufacturing processes. Mentorship of
less senior technicians. Relay information between team members and
key stakeholders to support effective communication for controls
related issues. Update or create electrical schematics as required.
Partner with Mechanics to resolve equipment electrical problems
that create performance deficiencies. Seek out and implement
continuous improvement projects related to costs, quality, and
efficiency. Assist in identifying and establishing critical spare
part inventory related to electronic needs for operations
equipment. Assist in establishing and maintaining preventive
maintenance related to electronic and electrical systems. Maintain
positive working relationships with operations and site support
resources. Communicate technical issues to site and operations
leadership to escalate issues that impact operations, minimizing
downtime impact. Participate in and sustain 5S Standards. Must
follow all required Safety and ISO procedures. Regular on-site
attendance and punctuality is a necessary function of this
position. May be required to work in other functional areas and/or
facilities depending on business needs. Education/Experience &
Skills: High school diploma or equivalent and 7-10 years of related
technical experience including 2 years apprenticeship or equivalent
experience in Control Systems troubleshooting and programming, 3
years of experience working with HMIs and Programmable Logic
Controls (PLC) programs and 5 years of experience troubleshooting
electrical and electronic issues of Industrial equipment. Working
knowledge of aspects of electronic control systems including but
not limited to PLCs, HMIs, motor starts, variable frequency drives,
DC drives, electrical schematics, wiring conventions, and standard
electrical components. Experience with technical support of
robotics, robotic maintenance, and automation for ammunition or
explosive rated equipment. Experience supporting network controls
of industrial equipment (particularly Ignition). Experience
supporting a range of different automation systems. Experience with
AB & SIEMENS PLC’s and PLC components. Fundamental knowledge of
Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) ASME Y14.5M-2009.
Must be able to clearly, concisely, and accurately convey ideas and
information to others, both verbally and in written form. Must have
intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Must be abled to plan and execute multiple projects and overcome
obstacles necessary to meet job duties and responsibilities.
Working Conditions: Regularly perform repetitive tasks. Work is
primarily standing (90 % of the shift) except for lunch and break
periods. Shifts are 8 hours, 10 hours, and 12 hours. The duties of
this job normally require exposure to a typical manufacturing
environment. Frequent standing, sitting, stooping/squatting,
walking, and stair climbing can be expected along with frequent
lifting and/or moving of tooling, parts containers, and materials
up to 40 pounds. Must be able to reach with hands and arms, bend
and kneel frequently at a minimum of 50% of the shift, as well as
undergo repetitive wrist, hand, elbow, shoulder, and ankle motions.
Must demonstrate proficient fine motor skills, ability to grip,
reach, pull, turn, and use tools to torque fixtures in various
machinery or in the assembly, machining, or testing of parts.
Specific vision abilities required may include close vision,
distance vision, peripheral and depth perception, and the ability
to focus on fine print. Must wear required Personal Protective
Equipment (PPE) where required. Must comply with all work exposure
EH&S training requirements and adhere to SIG SAUER Inc.
